I am an assistant professor in CSE at NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering. I run SERA Lab. We build systems that have to survive the messy parts of computing: phones that throttle, radios that stall, and users who notice when the 95th percentile is late.

Most of the work is measurement-first. We instrument real devices and campus networks, then use those traces to design schedulers, runtimes, and protocols that still hold up outside the lab. If that sounds like your kind of systems work, email me.

On-device inference testbed

ThermEdge looks at what happens when a phone has to keep running a vision or language model for minutes, not seconds. We log SoC frequency, skin temperature, and tail latency on Pixel and Snapdragon boards, then schedule work so the device does not fall off a thermal cliff.

JayNet is a small testbed we run out of 370 Jay Street: SDRs, phones, and a handful of rooftop vantage points. We collect 5G / Wi-Fi handover traces while walking the MetroTech loop, then use them to debug interactive video and conferencing stacks.

DeltaMesh is our attempt to stream volumetric captures without pretending the network is a datacenter. Depth cameras in the lab, a headset on the other end of a flaky link, and a lot of arguing about which deltas are actually worth sending.
